First off: this is Arlene Dickinson. You might know her as one of Canada’s leading entrepreneurs. Or maybe you‘ve seen her as one of the stars of CBC’s Dragons‘ Den. Overview

We are looking for a passionate Information Architect / User Experience Specialist, focused on digital product development, to join our team based in Calgary.


As part of our technology group, this person will be focused on championing great user experiences for our clients and digital products.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis (heuristic and similar) to generate documentation that directs information architecture, the user experience, and wireframes.
  • Create information architecture documentation for digital products across web, smartphones, and tablets in both browser and mobile app mediums.
  • Design cutting edge user experience documentation for digital products across web, smartphones, and tablets in both browser and mobile app mediums.
  • Quickly and clearly concept ideas through sketching or other rapid prototyping methods.
  • Produce user interaction diagrams, use case diagrams, screen flows, wireframes, and creative mock-ups.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including project management, client management, strategic planning, design, and development.
  • Understands audience groupings and personas.
  • Assist in getting feedback from target audiences through usability testing, surveys, or focus groups.

Requirements

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your mobile and web application work.
  • Passionate about the end user experience and best practices in the digital space.
  • High degree of interest in usability and understanding user needs.
  • Experience working in an iterative and highly collaborative design shop.
  • Fluency in wire-framing mockup tools such as Keynote, Omnigraffle or Balsamiq.
  • Proficiency in visual prototyping tools, such as Axure, and HTML/CSS.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities, with experience in presenting to and influencing stakeholders.
  • Experience in the entire product lifecycle.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently on multiple projects in a fast paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education preferably in interaction design, multimedia design, ergonomics, human factors or a related field.
  • 5+ years of UX design experience for digital consumer products and services.
  • 2+ years of experience in mobile platform UX design.

Overview:
We are looking for a contract-based Drupal developer to work out of the Calgary office. This role will primarily be tasked with Drupal projects, but may also be required to work in other frameworks / codebases. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated experience taking Drupal projects from planning through to completion.

Core duties and responsibilities include:

  • Performs front-end development tasks with HTML, CSS, jQuery and AngularJS.
  • Performs back-end development tasks with PHP and MySQL, with specialization in the Drupal framework.
  • Slices and manipulates Photoshop documents and other art assets for development use as needed.
  • Assist in QA as needed/able, across all of Venture’s projects.
  • Is aware of and designs/codes to minimize cross-browser/platform rendering issues.
  • Employs SEO best practices with all development efforts.
  • Writes w3 validated code and adheres to defined web standards.
  • Cognizant of accessibility issues and actively builds content with standards and schemas in mind.
  • Passionately follows the latest technology with a keen eye for social media trends and emerging platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments.

  • At least 5 years’ prior development experience a must.

We are currently looking to add a Flash Animator to our Calgary team. This role is responsible for delivering interactive banner ads, landing pages, and HTML email campaigns for multiple clients across various marketing campaigns.

  • Develops large batches of Flash ad units and converting them to HTML5, engaging interactive media and mobile based software.
  • Constantly optimizes build process, and creates templates to streamline development.

  • Understands and implements banner ads using IAB Ad unit guidelines.
  • Constructs rich, multi-part marketing emails.

Overview:

We are currently looking to add a full time Writer to our Calgary team. This role is responsible for developing predominantly digitally-consumed and social-media-based written content under the direction of the Director of Content and Social Media.  The successful candidate will have proven experience writing for a variety of media channels, across various industry topics.

 

Core Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Copywriting and proofreading in a wide variety of styles, tones and formats.
  • Researching, writing and editing pieces for marketing communications campaigns, predominantly in the form of web content, blog posts, articles, white papers, and social posts.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with multiple simultaneous assignments.
  • Inherent understanding of writing for a target audience(s) and with specific marketing campaign objectives in mind.
  • Collaborate in the creation of client content calendars; establishing workflow of creation, editing and publishing of content.
  • Proactively proposing new, innovative, sharable content ideas.

Desired skills and experience:

  • 3-5 years in a related capacity (copywriting, journalism, public relations).

Job description

Venture is seeking a client marketing manager to actively participate in the servicing of Venture's key customer accounts with a focus on building customer loyalty, maintaining customer relationships, and generating additional service opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have +3 years of experience in a marketing and/or communications field, and should have a university degree in the social sciences (communications, English, political sciences).

Reporting to a Client Marketing Director, the candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Actively participate in the servicing of Venture key customer accounts with a focus on building customer loyalty, maintaining customer relationships and generating additional service opportunities.
  • Actively following the Venture process for delivering marketing programs.  
  • Delivering client contact reports, budget control reports, and the development of accurate estimates in a timely and appropriate manner. 
  • Routinely holding face-to-face meetings with the clients assigned to them, as well as managing the relationship in a professional, ethical, and disciplined manner.
  • Working with other departments to integrate Venture’s offerings into a holistic approach based on the customers’ needs.
  • Work to deliver Venture brand consistently and effectively to all existing and new clients
  • Support business development efforts through contributions to RFP responses as well as new business meetings and prospective clients

In partnership with our current Creative Director, you will help lead Venture into the future.   • Take a lead co-role in the quality and caliber of the creative products Venture delivers
  • Build the creative reputation and profile of Venture in the marketing and advertising community
  • Oversee the members of the creative team in our Calgary & Toronto office
  • Establish best practices, benchmarking current performance, and lead the hunt for new and innovative means of improving future performance

  • You have 5+ years experience in a creative leadership role
  • You have an excellent writing skillset, with at least 10 years of professional experience in advertising & communications
  • You have proven expertise in creating and delivering award-winning concepts and finished deliverables
  • You have the ability to fire people up and cool them down, and you know when to do which
  • You have deep understanding of traditional, digital, and social marketing
  • You’re detail-oriented, organized, and understand the need for effective time-management, and you can impress the importance of these attributes to others
